Silverado Celebrates New Austin Memory Care Community With Ground Breaking

Memory-care community to bring approximately 200 jobs and have capacity for up to 100 residents

Austin, Texas – August 15, 2013 – In a community-wide celebration on August 14, 2013, Texas State Representative Paul Workman helped leaders from Silverado and development partners Meridian Realty Advisors break ground on their new memory care community.  This newest Silverado site is expected to open in Spring of 2014 and bring 100 temporary construction jobs and up to 100 permanent jobs to the community located at 14058 Bee Cave Pkwy, Bee Cave, TX 78738.

This community, which is the second for Silverado in the area joining the recently opened location in Onion Creek, comes to Austin at a time when the prevalence of memory loss in our nation and in our community is growing – according to the Alzheimer’s Association more than 5.4 million Americans suffer from Alzheimer’s, dementia or other memory-impairing diseases. That’s one in eight older Americans.

In Austin, more than 1,300 households in 2011 were likely to have at least one resident with Alzheimer’s - and that number is expected to grow to 13 percent, or more than 1,470 households, by 2016 according to population estimates and statistics from the American Medical Association.

As specialists in the field of memory care, Silverado’s highly skilled staff understand the changing symptoms of memory impairment and develop tailored care plans for each resident which focus on physical and emotional health, nutrition and medication management. “We are excited to provide our future residents with this state-of-the-art community, designed with innovations resulting from Silverado’s 16 years of operational knowledge, from a team of professionals dedicated to serving the memory impaired,” explains Silverado President, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman Loren Shook. This Bee Cave community, like all Silverado locations, is purposefully designed, enabling residents to live with dignity and freedom in a social and safe environment.
