Silverado Senior Living Los Angeles Offers Complimentary Engagement Classes for Individuals with Memory Loss
The Silverado Learning Annex events allow affected individuals to participate in specially-designed activities while family members participate in a Q&A session to address specific questions related to their loved one’s care.
Los Angeles, CA – June 05, 2012 – Alzheimer’s and other memory-impairing diseases are fast becoming one of the greatest medical challenges facing Americans today. In fact, these diseases currently affect 24% of all adults over 75 and 47% of those over the age of 85. In California alone, there are over half a million affected seniors – with numbers expected to grow significantly over the next ten years.
And though there is no cure available to combat the progression of these diseases, studies suggest that social and physical interaction can help alleviate the depression and challenging behaviors associated with these conditions.
Silverado Senior Living specializes in the care of those with memory loss and beginning this week – through the remainder of 2012 – their Los Angeles area communities will be offering complimentary activity classes and lunch for affected individuals and an accompanying family member.
The Los Angeles –based ‘Learning Annex classes’ are free, open to the public with RSVP, and include a complimentary lunch.
While there, accompanying family members have the opportunity to either join their loved one in the Learning Annex activity or participate in a Q&A session to address specific questions related to the care of their loved one.
Silverado Learning Annex classes are an extension of the organization’s unique activity programs, which center on nurturing the human spirit by promoting choice, connection and purposeful engagement.
