Medical Experts Gather in Houston for Disorders of Memory Symposium
A meeting of medical minds gathered in Houston on June 7 to discuss memory disorders at the second annual Disorders of Memory Symposium. Nearly 140 nurse practitioners, physicians, social workers, medical students and other interested individuals from throughout Texas had an opportunity to hear about the latest advancements in memory research and care. The event – hosted by Silverado in partnership with the Methodist Neurological Institute – brought together the collective knowledge of some of the country's great medical experts to address the growing need for research and care for those living with memory impairments. Alzheimer’s, just one form of dementia, already affects more than five million Americans – and that number continues to grow.
A variety of topics included advancements in imaging, as well as diagnosing, treating and caring for those impacted by memory-impairing diseases. Silverado President, Chairman and CEO Loren Shook opened the event by outlining many of the innovations the company has developed in the field of memory care. His talk was followed by six in-depth presentations by experts, including Dr. Rachelle Doody, a researcher and professor of Neurology of Baylor College of Medicine, and Dr. Joe Masdeu, director of the Nantz National Alzheimer’s Center. A full list of speakers and topics covered during the event is available here.
Silverado regularly hosts educational summits, such as the Symposium, as part of a commitment to improve lives by creating an environment that allows experts in the field to make progress in preventing and treating memory-impairing diseases.
