Paying Tribute through Volunteering
Many of us have personal reasons for volunteering our time or donating goods and services. For Danielle Bogni, a volunteer with Silverado Hospice Bay Area, it’s about paying tribute to a mother she loves dearly, but lost to stage four uterine cancer.
Danielle chose to volunteer with Silverado Hospice to be a part of the support system, to help families in need, and to return the kindness shown to her when she was experiencing the limits of her own emotional strength during her mother’s battle with cancer. Born from that experience is Danielle’s incredible passion for hospice, where she regularly goes above and beyond for those she serves, while simultaneously carrying on her mother’s legacy.
One example of Danielle going the extra mile is her work with a patient who is an avid gardener and is wheelchair bound. Knowing how precious a garden is to this patient, Danielle decided that a collaborative effort to paint a garden would be a fantastic and creative way for the patient to reconnect with such a beloved hobby. Danielle began with a tree, and together they added flowers and foliage to create a garden scene.
It’s important for individuals to stay connected to the things that bring them joy. This is why Silverado’s comprehensive team of volunteers is another aspect that makes Silverado a quality care provider.
