Every girl dreams of her wedding from little on the dress, the flowers, the cake and of course having her mother by her side for it all. Well that’s how it was for me but I never imagined that my Mom wouldn’t be able to be there for it all due to Alzheimer’s. As someone who suffers from advanced Alzheimer’s, leaving Silverado for the wedding was not an option so we brought the wedding to her!
On Saturday, November 7th Justin, my now husband, and I tied the knot and following the ceremony came to Silverado to celebrate with Mom. Silverado graciously opened their doors and hearts to my family and our guests for a mini reception. The great room was decorated beautifully, there was live music and a delicious cake! Upon entering Silverado, I saw the great room filled with residents, staff and our wedding guests and in front of them all was my Mom. Tears of joy and love immediately filled my eyes and I will cherish that moment the rest of my life.
Silverado continues to provide exceptional care to my Mom on a daily basis but went above and beyond to make our wedding day extra special by having my Mom and our Silverado family part of the day! We can’t thank the staff and residents of Silverado Oak Village for making it a day to remember!
