Silverado Hospice Partners with National Veterans Outreach Program
Though Silverado’s compassion is most often talked about in relation to our homecare, memory care and hospice services, it is actually a vital part of company culture that extends to others in a state of need.
A wonderful example of this is a recent effort by our North Houston and South Houston hospice branches to help local veterans.
In a combined effort, the North and South Houston teams collected donations of “interview appropriate” clothing, accessories and cash donations to give to the National Veterans Outreach Program (NVOP) – American GI Forum. The business clothing and accessories will be given to Houston-area veterans to assist with their job searches. With the help of Silverado’s Houston-region communities, enough donations were collected to fill an entire Jeep. Cash donations received in addition to clothing and accessories were enough to donate seven haircuts to the Houston-area veterans.
Retired Naval Commander and Silverado Sugar Land resident, Andrea J. (pictured left), helped Silverado associates deliver the donations to the NVOP. As a highly-respected former nurse and commander, Andrea was honored to help her fellow veterans while reminiscing about her own service.
