Residents Find Purpose in Helping the Homeless
Research is showing that keeping active socially, particularly in activities that help others, can benefit cognitive health. This is the basis of the Nexus program’s Purposeful Social Activities pillar.
As part of the Silverado Beach Cities’ Service Club, residents gather at the community and put together lunch bags for the homeless. The group then travels to nearby St. James Church to distribute them to the less-fortunate who often rely on the kindness of others for meals.
The results of giving their time to help others makes a visible difference to the residents, and the individuals they are helping are thankful for both the lunches and the kind smiles.
The Service Club is doing a wonderful job of showing how giving helps everyone!
