The Joint Commission is an independent, not-for-profit organization that accredits and certifies health care organizations and programs in the United States. Joint Commission accreditation and certification is a recognizable symbol that shows a commitment to quality and dedication to excellence.
Every current Silverado Hospice branch holds accreditation from The Joint Commission, and earning accreditation is one of the highest priorities when a new office opens. We believe that the oversight of an esteemed organization such as the Joint Commission is invaluable to both those we serve and the company.
The NHPCO is the largest nonprofit membership organization representing hospice and palliative care programs and professionals in the United States. Their mission to lead and mobilize social change for improved care at the end of life has made them the face of comfort care in the United Sates, uniting and connecting care providers while providing valuable resources for those seeking more information on hospice.
Through our association with the NHPCO we strengthen our commitment and ability to provide hospice and palliative care to those who most need it, and we lend our voice to the growing chorus to help improve understanding and availability of hospice to the public.
The Hospice Action Network (HAN) is a part of the NHPCO, created with the mission of advocating for policies that ensure the best care for patients and families facing the end of life. A single voice carrying the message of hospice providers and and advocates nationwide, HAN fights to ensure compassionate, high-quality care for all Americans facing a life-limiting illness.
Silverado is a strong supporter of hospice advocacy, and we believe that care should remain affordable and available. That in mind, Silverado holds a seat on the HAN board of directors to contribute our energy and experience to this important calling.
We Honor Veterans is a collaboration between the NHPCO and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) created to meet the unique end-of-life needs of those who have served this nation. This organization unites hospice providers, state hospice organizations, Hospice-Veteran Partnerships and VA facilities into a unified effort to provide compassionate care to a population that is often underserved.
Through training and participation, We Honor Veterans partners work their way through a series of rankings, earning between one and four stars. Every Silverado Hospice branch has earned their first star, while some are within reach of their fourth.
