Dementia Friendly Classes - 6/26
Every Tuesday from 5:00pm – 6:30pm
Silverado Sierra Vista is hosting an educational series to help you better understand the different types of dementia, give you tips on how you can help and better equip you to face the challenges of caring for someone with dementia.
These trainings are tested and modified based on the latest clinical evidence and research about dementia, while also designed for maximum comprehension and retention through the use of real-world examples.
A new topic is covered each week including:
Dementia 101 (Class is part of Dementia Friendly Azusa)
Learn about common types of dementia, specifically Alzheimer's disease and how it affects a person's functional and mental abilities.
Communication (Class is part of Dementia Friendly Azusa)
Learn ways to improve communication with those with dementia and increase the understanding of the message for both parties.
Behaviors (Class is part of Dementia Friendly Azusa)
Identify behaviors that are found in dementia and understand what is being communicated through those behaviors
What to do when the "caring" is all gone.
Review the stages of grief, mourning and bereavement.
Complimentary respite care is available.
