In recognition of Alzheimer’s Awareness Month, Silverado invited members of the LAPD to a day full of education and interactive presentations. Officers participated in Silverado’s Virtual Dementia Experience (VDE), an interactive experience that takes you from the beginning to late stages of the disease process. The VDE participants wore vision-impairing goggles and noise-canceling headphones to mimic health impairments that are often associated with dementia and other memory-impairing conditions. Through the VDE, LAPD officers were able to experience the daily challenges of those affected by memory-impairing conditions first-hand.
