Alzheimer's Association 16th Annual Updates on Demetia conference

On Tuesday, May, 6th 2014, all three Silverado service lines were present at the 16th Annual “Updates on Dementia” presented by the Alzheimer’s Association at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Foster City, CA.

As one of four corporate sponsors for the event, Silverado teamed up with the Alzheimer’s Association in an effort to continue to spread the word on Alzheimer’s care and research.

Silverado’s Medical Director Dr. Elizabeth Edgerly made the welcome and introductions at the event, as well as being the moderator for the Q & A session with Dr. Gil Ribinvici, Assistant professor of Neurology for the University Of California San Francisco Memory Aging Center, Chris Nowinski, the Co-founder and Executive Director of the Sport Legacy Institute and Dr. Michael Weiner, a professor of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging, Medicine, Psychiatry and Neurology at UCSF.

Silverado At Home’s Life Care Manager Tammy Won was on hand to discuss with visitors that as a licensed nurse she is able to make house visits and assessments for families that may need extra assistance with daily living functions. She met with families seeking support for home care and provided additional information on ways Silverado At Home can assist with finding appropriate care providers to attend to personal needs.

The "Updates on Dementia” conference was a huge success with presentations on the current status of dementia research, neuropathy and clinical course of chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), and the relationship of traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress disorder for Alzheimer’s and dementia. Silverado will continue to support and work alongside the Alzheimer’s Association as we both look to translate research into practice and enrich the lives of all of our clients, patients and residents.
