First Artisan Craft Show

Location : Onion Creek

Onion Creek found our community growing briskly and decided to poll our residents on their interests and what they enjoy doing.  Many of them have amazing talents such as painting, sewing, jewelry making, cooking and baking.  What they expressed is that they enjoyed doing all the above mentioned talents when they could share it with someone, like they did with their families.  Our engagement team, along with our awesome residents, decided to put their talents to a good use, and we came up with the idea for our First Artisan Craft Show. We then decided to open it up to our family members and the public and that all proceeds would benefit the Alzheimer’s Association. Doing this show would allow them to use their talents and give back to a worthy cause.   We sold jewelry, aprons, table runners, painted holiday ornaments and wine glasses, painted bird houses and sauces made with ingredients from our garden.  All the residents not only made these items, but helped run the show.  In a matter of 2 hours the resident ended up making $1,355.00 for the Alzheimer’s Association.  We are all so excited and are already making plans for next year.
