Memory-Impaired Create Jewelry to Support Others with Alzheimer’s
The tally is in; last week, Silverado Onion Creek residents helped raise more than $1,200 for the Alzheimer’s Association. We hosted a Christmas in July fundraising event that included 12 vendors and over 80 pieces of jewelry created by people with dementia and Alzheimer’s, with all proceeds donated in support of Alzheimer’s research. This is the our second event, bringing the total raised to more than $2,200. And with that success, our resident's jewelry is now available at the classic, all-American Buda Drugstore, with all proceeds benefiting the cause.
“Many of the residents who participate openly talk about how donating their time has helped them to feel valued and restores self-worth,” says Darleen Motley, Silverado Director of Resident Engagement. “Enabling our residents to serve their community helps them contribute to the world in a meaningful way!”
