Rehabilitation Services at Turtle Creek
In addition to the world-class memory care for which we are known, Silverado Turtle Creek also provides outpatient rehabilitation services for guests transitioning out of higher levels of acute care. Through our partnership with RehabCare we are able to provide physical, speech and occupational therapies.
Movement is the main focus for physical therapy. This includes bed mobility, transferring from the bed to a chair or toilet, walking, using stairs and/or wheelchair mobility. Physical therapists may instruct patients on the use of a walker or cane, maneuvering a wheelchair with one hand or on safe transfer techniques. Therapists may also work with patients to decrease pain and improve strength, endurance, balance and range of motion.
Occupational therapists help patients become more independent by teaching them new ways to perform life tasks such as making breakfast, dressing or simply brushing their hair. Occupational therapists also teach patients how to protect their muscles and joints and increase their strength and endurance. When necessary, they provide training in the use of adaptive equipment, such as reachers and long-handled shoehorns. Home evaluations are conducted to assess safety issues.
Speech-language pathologists evaluate and treat patients for hearing, language, communication and swallowing disorders. The focus of speech therapy is improving speech-language expression, comprehension, oral motor skills for accurate speech production and strategies for safe eating.
RehabCare uses the latest in documentation technology and makes it easy to understand expected therapy outcomes, allowing families and residents to track progress and stay on top of the process.
