Silverado Residents Raise Hundreds for the Alzheimer's Association By Selling Homemade "Senior Santa's Sugar Scrubs"
Recent studies have found that a strong social network involving purpose-oriented activities has been found to protect against cognitive decline. At Silverado, we incorporate purposeful activities and engagements into our Nexus program activities.
With the help of Director of Resident Engagement Stephanie Dure and Family Ambassador Jennifer Brown, Silverado residents mixed together homemade rosemary, lemon and lavendar sugar scrubs that were then sold at the Plaid for Women conference! Each scrub was made with love and placed in a hand-painted container. Needless to say, the scrubs were a huge hit and we raised nearly four hundred dollars that benefitted the Alzheimer's Association!
