Residents Organize Holiday Gift Drive For Local Veterans
Recent studies have found that a strong social network involving purpose-oriented activities has been found to protect against cognitive decline. At Silverado, we incorporate purposeful activities and engagements into our Nexus program.
During a Nexus Support Group, Silverado Cypresswood residents Kendall McNeill and Dick Moore, who are both U.S veterans, voiced that they wanted to do something special for local veterans for Christmas. Our Director of Resident and Family Services, Melissa Cruz, collaborated with local U.S. Vets, families, residents and a local physician to organize a Veterans gift drive service project. With the help of our Engagement team, the Veterans Club collected gifts from families and local professionals and delivered them for the holidays!
