VIDEO: Silverado Celebrates WWII Pilot's 100th Birthday

Location : Cypresswood

With the help of the WASP museum, the Silverado team in Houston, Texas recently celebrated resident Mayme Tanner’s 100th Birthday with a party honoring her service to the U.S. Army Air Force.  As American history has unfolded over the years, so has Mayme's story. A highlight was during World War II, when she served as a member of WASP (Women Airforce Service Pilots) - a pioneering organization in which female pilots flew aircraft under the direction of the U.S. Military. During her birthday, friends and family celebrated and a representative from the National WASP Museum shared remarks about the organization’s critical role during the war.
