"I Feel So Honored To Be Part of Such a Wonderful Organization"
By Kathleen Holloway, Director of Resident Engagement
Back in 2003, the year I joined Silverado, I wondered how I could continue working while being the mother I had always wanted to be. However, since Silverado encourages associates to bring their children to work, I decided to give it a try. My kids not only did well in this environment, they thrived with the love from the many residents, families and associates who they interacted with every day.
Silverado literally became their home away from home, and they would cry when it was time to leave. They learned to read, write, and communicate much faster with the help of their new, 'extended family.’
In 2011, we were again blessed with a baby girl and the Silverado family has been a part of her life since birth. I feel so lucky that she can come to work with me and learn the same lessons that her older brothers and sister have learned, and receive that same unconditional love.
Not only have I noticed a difference in my children, but also in the residents. The benefit of children in the community clearly shows in the resident's eagerness to engage with them and the smiles and laughter that occur in their interactions.
I feel so honored to be part of such a wonderful organization that truly understands the importance of family.
