See Me Program at the Simithsonian American Art Museum

Alexandria residents had the wonderful opportunity to participate in the "See Me" program on October 2nd, hosted at the Smithsonian American Art Museum. The program is an art activity offered through the Smithsonian to enhance the wellbeing of those living with dementia. Docents who are specifically trained to work with those who have dementia gave tours of the National Portrait Gallery, and residents were able to interact, ask questions and share feelings about the art.

Following the tour, our residents had the opportunity to visit the museum's workroom, where they were able to create their own sculptures and paintings. This rare and touching event delighted all participants.
