Tasty Delights Showcase Silverado's Culture of Good Food at Cook-Off

Chicago Tribune, Chicago, IL, November 11, 2015 - Last week Silverado Naperville hosted their inaugural Culinary Cook-Off. The Director of Culinary Services from each of our six Illinois and Wisconsin communities battled in a culinary show down. Each chef created a delightful dish but Silverado Orchard Park Chef Jose Mata took home the trophy with his signature dish, an apple tart Tatin with Bourbon caramel sauce.
"'We wanted to showcase that we cook things like this for our residents every day,' said Justin Roth, Silverado Naperville's chef and director of culinary services who coordinated the event. 'We aren't just pulling things out of a box and popping them in the oven. We use fresh ingredients, have fresh produce delivered to us daily and make things from scratch.'
'One of the things we believe in at Silverado is that we should experience fine dining, so each of our communities has an accredited chef, and they design the menus,' said Jane Johnson of Silverado Naperville. "Our chefs wanted to get together and showcase what they do.'"
