Testimonial: "Over the 22+ years its existence, Silverado seems to have positioned itself at the pinnacle in memory care residences."
"I came to realize my fathers’ need for specialized support and care the hard way. Kicking and screaming. He is, after all, my father and this simply couldn’t be his future.
At the time, he was an independent resident of a CCRC (Continuing Care Retirement Community) facility in Evanston, IL. It was upscale, had a pool, workout room, activities galore, fine dining and more. Within its community it also had an Assisted-Living wing, a Skilled Nursing floor and a Memory Support wing.
Still, after speaking with a variety of experts, including his primary care physician of near 40 years as well as psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers and more, I began to research dedicated memory care facilities. As Dad had lived in the Chicago area for 40+ years, my search began in that area. I toured three facilities run by two different organizations. Then I was introduced to Silverado.
I toured Silverado – Brookfield and simply knew it was for dad. So many little design features incorporated in the building displayed a thorough concern for the health and safety of the residents. On top of that, the experts I had originally consulted simply nodded and smiled as I shared my impressions, commenting then that Silverado was indeed cream of the crop. Perhaps not perfect but focused and determined to be the best.
I see that focus and determination with every trip to visit my father who moved into the Brookfield community in late July of this year. The building itself was purpose built by Silverado as a memory care facility and it shows right down to having a shelf installed rather than a simple handrail. I see that focus in every conversation I have with staff from the Administrator to the Maintenance team, from Nursing to Reception. I see that focus in how every issue, personal to systemic, is dealt with.
Just as importantly, I see the care taken in hiring and training. For many years in my career, hiring and training was part of my job description and I know well how difficult both can be for a dedicated, niche business. Multiply that difficulty by ten when dealing with the needs and challenges of the residents of Silverado and I have come to respect each and every choice in staffing made.
Over the 22+ years its existence, Silverado seems to have positioned itself at the pinnacle in memory care residences. Even with its growing pains here and there, Silverado has proven itself to have the respect, and recommendation, of those I relied on to support my choice of having my father become a resident at Brookfield.
A choice I would freely recommend others to consider."
