Silverado President, CEO & Co-Founder Loren Shook Receives ASHA Lifetime Achievement Award

We are pleased to share that Loren Shook, whose inspiration to change memory care led to the creation of Silverado, has been honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Seniors Housing Association (ASHA)—one of the industry’s highest distinctions.

Presented by senior living innovator and longtime friend Arnie Whitman, the award recognized Loren as a “visionary” and “innovator” whose work redefined how we care for individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. Whitman praised Loren’s commitment to breaking down stigmas and leading with compassion—extending love, dignity and purpose in place of fear.

ASHA President & CEO David Schless called Loren a disruptive force who “absolutely transformed the way that we take care of individuals with Alzheimer’s,” highlighting his relentless advocacy for research and innovation.

And Joel Nelson, former CEO of Life Care Services, recognized Loren as a true pioneer—someone who had the courage to say “there’s got to be a better way” and devote his life to creating it.

This recognition reflects more than a career—it celebrates a legacy. Loren’s visionary leadership has elevated memory care nationwide and forever changed the lives of individuals and families navigating Alzheimer’s and related dementias.

We are immensely proud to see his impact honored on the national stage.
