I feel incredibly fortunate to have grown up as an original Silverado Baby. I often jokingly tell staff, family, and residents that when they ask, “How long have you been at Silverado?” I simply smile and respond, “I have worked for Silverado my whole life,” before explaining why that is.
My mother began her journey with Silverado 26 years ago, and I was just 7 years old when I first entered the world of memory care. During that time, I learned invaluable lessons about patience, empathy, intergenerational friendships, and the power of LOVE. Growing up at Silverado has been a blessing that few children experience.
I take great pride in knowing that my daughter is also a Silverado Baby, learning and experiencing the same things I did at her age. This not only provides her with a deeper understanding of life and emotional intelligence but also gives the residents a sense of purpose as they spend time with her during engagements or teach her piano. From a young age, I always knew I wanted to work at Silverado. I started as a caregiver from 2019-2021and later transitioned into engagement 2023-current. Despite leaving for broader experience, nothing compares to the warmth and sense of home at Silverado. Silverado has always felt like home to me, and it continues to maintain that warm, welcoming atmosphere.
