Preserving Access to Specialized Memory Care in the South Bay

Dear Silverado families, friends, and partners-

Access to dedicated memory care in the South Bay is essential for families facing Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. Purpose-built communities provide specialized support, safety, and dignity that general senior housing cannot replicate. The proposed Silverado Beach Cities community would help ensure local families can keep their loved ones close to home during one of life’s most challenging journeys.

We encourage you to make your voice heard by contacting members of the Beach Cities Health District Board and the Redondo Beach City Council and urging them to reconsider the prior agreement.

Dear [Board Member/City Council Member],

I am writing to respectfully urge you to reconsider the previous agreement that excludes a dedicated memory care community, such as Silverado Beach Cities, from the rezoned space.

Families in the South Bay urgently need access to specialized memory care close to home. Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias require a level of care, safety, and expertise that only purpose-built memory care communities can provide. Without local options, families are often forced to place loved ones far from their support systems during an already difficult time.

Please support solutions that prioritize the health, dignity, and well-being of those living with memory impairment and the families who care for them. The inclusion of a dedicated memory care community would be a meaningful step in meeting this critical and growing need in our community.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
