Leo’s Career Growth at Silverado

Leo came to Silverado as a culinary aid in 2008, at the age of 18, to help his family make ends meet in the wake of the recession. While his goals at the time were very simple, Leo connected with his role in helping those in need – a feeling that reminded him of the time spent caring for his grandfather while he battled bone cancer. Says Leo, “when I started I just needed a job, shortly after I found out that serving our residents was filling a spot in my heart.”

Two years later, with a combination of hard work and mentorship from the community’s administrator, Leo was promoted to cook. In 2013, just five years after coming to Silverado with a vague idea of what his future held, Leo was promoted to Culinary Director of his community.  “Silverado believed on me and gave me the opportunity and the tools to be successful in life and as a professional.”
