A Silverado First

The Future of Memory Care Has Arrived

A 24-Hour Brain Health Program. Nexus at Silverado by day. Memory Air™ by night.

Beyond great care

Memory Care Is Evolving

Traditional memory care has focused on helping people live with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. Silverado believes people deserve more than care.

Our goal is to provide hope to families by supporting the healthiest brain possible while treating the underlying disease causing memory impairment. That belief shaped a program no other memory care provider currently offers as part of its everyday model of care: continuous brain support, every hour of every day.

The model

Day and Night, One Continuous Program

Purposeful engagement fills the day. Gentle sensory stimulation extends that support into the hours residents sleep.

Purposeful Engagement Every Day

Purposeful engagement built on the Five Pillars of Brain Health: physical exercise, stress reduction, cognitive engagement, purposeful social activities, and support groups. Developed more than ten years ago, Nexus intentionally stimulates and supports brain health throughout each day. Every interaction has purpose.

Support While Residents Sleep

Gentle, natural scent stimulation delivered while residents sleep, supporting the brain during the hours it organizes memories, strengthens connections, and clears natural waste. Silverado is the first memory care provider in the United States to include Memory Air as part of its model of care.

The science

The Brain Can Continue to Adapt

Research shows the hippocampus, the brain’s center for learning and memory, responds positively to exercise, meaningful relationships, learning, purpose, healthy nutrition, quality sleep, and new experiences. These are not simply activities. They are powerful ways to keep the brain active and engaged.

And sleep is when the brain goes to work: during deep sleep, the brain organizes and stores memories, strengthens important connections, clears natural waste, and recharges for the next day. A program that supports the brain only during waking hours leaves a third of every day on the table. Ours doesn’t.

60%

Improvement in Cognition

Participants in Nexus at Silverado showed a statistically significant 60% improvement in cognition compared to those without such treatment, validated by academic research.

226%

Better Memory Performance

In a 2023 randomized controlled trial at the University of California, Irvine, overnight scent stimulation produced memory performance 226% better than the control group, the largest memory improvement ever reported in scientific literature for a non-drug intervention.

Purposeful Days. Supported Nights.

The 24-Hour Brain Health Program is available to residents in the early-stage Nexus program at Silverado communities nationwide. The best way to understand it is to see a day of it, and ask about the nights.
