Adriana Torres Receives the CALA Excellence in Service Award
Our very own Adriana Torres is recognized for her outstanding service
Adriana Torres, an associate of Silverado Newport Mesa, will be receiving the California Assisted Living Association Excellence in Service Award on November 5, 2018 at the Fall Conference & Trade Show in Palm Springs. Adriana Torres embodies Silverado’s core value, “Love is greater than fear.” She showed her commitment to serving residents during the southern California wildfires of 2017. Several days after she lost her home to the fires and had to relocate to a Red Cross shelter, she returned to work.
In her 10 years at Silverado Newport Mesa, Adriana Torres has taken the initiative to attend classes as a way of fine-tuning her caregiving skills. She is known for her attention to detail in helping residents look and feel their best. She checks in with residents throughout the day and encourages them to participate in purposeful activities. She also supports her team and has coached new staff on engaging with residents living with dementia.
She has encouraged her children to volunteer at the community as well. Her eldest son chose to pursue a care-focused career path and will be graduating with his LVN in the near future. He attributes his success and his love for elders to having learned from his mother’s example at a young age.
