As the prevalence of Alzheimer’s and other memory-impairing diseases rises in America, more individuals are on the lookout for ways to prevent and treat memory loss. Silverado’s Senior Vice President of Health Services was invited to share some tips on Los Angeles’ KCAL-9 News – a local CBS affiliate.

Top Five Memory Loss Prevention and Treatment Tips

  • Keep moving. Exercise should be integrated into your regular daily routine (rather than a power workout two times per week)
  • Maintain a Mediterranean-style diet: high in plant-based proteins, small amounts of animal proteins, olive oil and moderate red wine
  • Learn something new. Our brains are capable of continuing to learn new skills – challenge yourself
  • Stay connected. People who have loving relationships and are connected to family and friends generally live longer and are healthier
  • If you notice changes in memory function, see your primary care doctor. Many medical can cause memory changes, but some may be reversible if treated early
