Gladys Castro

Gladys began her healthcare career as a surgical technician in the U.S. Air Force and Army, where she developed the discipline and skills that laid the foundation for her future in nursing. She later became a registered nurse, excelling in high-acuity areas such as trauma, med-surg, telemetry, orthopedics and adult care. Gladys went on to earn her Master of Science in Nursing and her RCFE certification, further expanding her expertise in elder care and residential facility management. She has also spoken at healthcare conferences on patient safety, reducing readmissions and preventing medication errors.

Gladys is a first-generation American, born to Colombian parents, whose early experiences inspired a lifelong commitment to compassionate service. As a child, she worked alongside her aunt, a dedicated physician, providing care to underserved communities in small Colombian pueblos. This early exposure to healthcare and human resilience sparked her passion for the field. Known for her empathetic leadership and dedication to patient-centered care, Gladys is both a mentor and an innovator. She remains grounded by her family, who continually remind her that each day is a precious gift.

Outside of her professional life, Gladys is an avid traveler and adventure seeker. From shipwreck scuba diving in Miami to exploring Machu Picchu in Peru, dancing on Pink Street in Portugal and watching sunsets on safari in South Africa, she embraces life to the fullest. Wherever she is in the world, she never misses a sunset—her daily reminder of life’s beauty and promise.
