We rolled dough, sprinkled toppings, and baked our very own pizzas while learning fun facts about Italian culture and travel. From Venice’s canals to Rome’s ancient ruins, we explored it all—one slice at a time!
Grazie to everyone who joined us for this flavorful adventure. Who knew learning could be so delizioso?
Every year Silverado families are surveyed by U.S. News & World Report about their experience with us. Here are just a few comments shared by verified Silverado Newport Mesa family members when surveyed:
“My family member has been a resident at Newport-Mesa for 6 years. When we made the decision to have our loved one become a resident of this facility we had no idea what a life changing experience it would be for all of us. We have quality time with our loved one again which was not possible at home. We are so grateful for Newport-Mesa and the quality of life they have given to all of our family.”
“Silverado is top notch. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. My Dad is actually doing better cognitively now that he’s staying at Silverado than he was at my parents house. My Mom can see him anytime she wants, while getting the break she needed from having to take care my Dad 24/7. Our family is in a much better spot thanks to Silverado.”
“My Mom is adjusting well, eating well, sleeping through the night and participating with 2 or 3 daily activities. I’ve personally seen my mom enjoy activities and field trips. The nurses have continued mom’s medication (there are 2 nurses on site all day/all night) but have changed some RX capsules to tablet form, crushed and mixed with chocolate ice cream to make it easier for mom. Dr. Abney makes rounds here every two weeks. There is a podiatrist, dental hygienist, hair and nail technician that visits on site if you request an appointment making it easier than taking your LO to different offices. The caregivers that Silverado provides double teaming with all of mom’s daily care including showering 2xs week and toilet care. My mom has trouble walking, so Silverado also provides onsite PT and occupational therapy. So far so good!”
Many families shared the peace of mind they experienced when they finally chose Silverado after wrestling with feelings of guilt that comes from deciding to reach out for help. Even a family working together cannot replicate what an expert team of professionals who do this for a living and get to go home at night and rest can provide. Even superhuman strength eventually gives out. Once families make a move to Silverado and see that their loved one is better off and they can sleep again, the common refrain is, “I should have moved my loved one in earlier.” They are relieved to be the daughter, son, husband, or wife again and not the caregiver.
We want to reassure you that we understand that no one knows your loved one more than you do. We are the experts in what we do, having led the way in memory care for over 20 years. Families have shared they recognized that a delay in placement is a delay in care in treating this illness, and we know that a delay can result in a dangerous crisis for the exhausted caregiver or your loved one. Do not wait for an emergency. We invite you to give us a call at (949) 631-2212 and schedule a time to visit Silverado Newport Mesa.
In fact, we’re so confident that Silverado is the best choice to provide for your loved one’s needs we offer a satisfaction pledge unequaled in memory care.

Heather hopes to change the stigma around senior living and help others see communities as an extension of a resident’s home. “Senior living has evolved and isn’t a nursing home anymore,” she shares.
Heather moved to Southern California from Davis, CA and currently resides with her wife, three-year old son named Shai and two dogs. Heather enjoys the outdoors, hiking, going to the beach, hockey and is a fan of the San Jose Sharks.
